What should I expect during a session?
A typical session starts with a consultation about your health and what you hope to achieve. You'll then lie comfortably on a cushioned reclining chair. I will ensure you are relaxed, and start with a gentle foot massage. I will then apply specific finger and thumb pressure techniques to your feet (or hands). Most clients find the experience deeply relaxing and some even fall asleep!
Do I have to take my clothes off?
No. You will remain fully clothed, except for your socks and shoes, which you will remove so the that I can access your feet.
How long is a session?
Initial appointments, which include a detailed consultation, usually last 75 to 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are typically 60 minutes. Express sessions are 30 minutes.
Will it hurt?
No, the pressure should be firm but comfortable. However, if a reflex point corresponding to a congested area of your body is stimulated, you might feel a temporary sensation of mild tenderness or discomfort. Be sure to communicate with me about the pressure level, so I can adjust to your preference.
How will I feel after the session?
Most people feel a deep sense of calmness and relaxation immediately after a session. You might also notice you are thirsty, which is why I offer a glass of water. Occasionally, a client may feel a little tired or lightheaded, which is a normal, temporary response as the body processes the treatment.
How often should I come?
This depends entirely on your needs. For general relaxation and maintenance, many clients come monthly. If you are dealing with a specific, chronic issue, I might recommend you start with a more intensive course, such as a weekly appointment for 4-6 weeks, followed by maintenance treatments. I will discuss a personalised plan with you.
Is Reflexology suitable for everyone?
Reflexology is generally safe for most people, but it is not for absolutely everyone. While people of all ages can benefit from its relaxing effects, it should be approached with caution or avoided by individuals with certain conditions, such as Blood clots (or a history of them, like Deep Vein Thrombosis), Acute pain that has not been diagnosed, Gout (in an acute flare-up), Contagious foot conditions (like severe Athlete's Foot), Certain acute foot injuries (like a severe sprain). It is essential for anyone with a serious medical condition or who is pregnant to consult with their doctor before receiving treatment. If in doubt please contact me in advance to discuss
Can a child have Reflexology?
Yes! Reflexology can be very helpful for children, as it can help reduce Anxiety & Stress, and improve sleep quality. Reflexology helps children and teenagers cope with academic pressure, stress, and general anxiety. It can also help hyperactive children calm down and improve concentration, emotional regulation and enhance overall mood and happiness. Treatment times are typically much shorter (e.g., 15–30 minutes) and tailored to the child's age and attention span. For children under the age of 16 a parent, guardian, or carer must be present throughout the session and sign the necessary consent forms.
